Our Rich Heritage

History

Legend of Malitbog

In the early 1700s, Malitbog was founded by a Datu and his three right-hand men. The Datu's daughter fell in love with a young harvester, leading to tragic events, including the deaths of the daughter and her lover due to the Datu's anger. Filled with remorse, the Datu named the town Malitbog in her memory. The Saguilongan and Kilem families also played significant roles in the town's development.

Kadisnon Festival

Culture

Araw ng Malitbog (Kadisnon Festival) is one of the highlights of our cultural calendar. The annual festival, celebrated from December 14th to 16th, brings the community together in joyous festivities. The event features traditional dances, vibrant street parades, local music performances, and showcases of artisanal crafts.

Visitors can immerse themselves in the rich heritage of Malitbog by indulging in delicious local cuisine, experiencing historical reenactments, and participating in interactive cultural workshops.
